The Asian NGO Coalition for Agrarian
Reform and Rural Development (ANGOC) is
a regional NGO association of 21
national and regional NGO networks from
11 Asian countries actively engaged in
food security, agrarian reform,
sustainable agriculture and rural
development activities. Its
member-networks have an effective reach
of some 3,000 NGOs throughout the
region.

Networking was a concept virtually
unheard of in the 1970s. It was
particularly alien to non-government
organizations in the Philippines, at
least, until the Association of
Foundations (AF) came to be.
Established in November 1972, AF is the
country’s first network of
non-government organizations (NGOs). Its
mission is to enable its member
foundations to develop sustainable
programs that serve their communities.

Resources in Rural Areas (PhilDHRRA) is
a network of seventy-two (72)
non-government organizations (as of
November 2003) involved in various
development activities in rural
communities all over the country.

for Social Progress (PBSP) is a private
and non-profit foundation dedicated to
promoting business sector commitment to
social development. Organized in 1970 by
50 of the country’s prominent business
leaders, it has since grown to become
the nation’s largest business-led social

non-stock corporation registered with
the Philippine Securities and Exchange
Commission since 3 July 1975. We were
accredited (renewal status) by the
Department of Science and Technology
(National Science and Technology
Authority) on 29 January 2002 as a
science / donee institution.

The National Council
of Social Development (NCSD) formerly
known as the Council of Welfare Agencies
in the Philippines, Inc. (CWAPI) was
established in 1949. It was formally
organized in 1952 when a group of
Filipino leaders of various welfare and
civic organizations bonded together to
respond to the aftermath of World War
II. The formation of the Council is
recorded as the beginning of NGO network
in the Philippines.
